Jodi Phipps, MSW, RSW, CPT-SIT

I am an Independent Therapist with Alloway Therapy Services, here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I strive to be culturally responsive, socially just, and affirming (e.g. Neurodiversity affirming, LGBTQ2S+ affirming, etc.) in my life and work. I am passionate about providing services that are collaborative and wholistic. Regarding neurodivergence, I have a particular interest in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and I have been walking alongside individuals and systems impacted by FASD for decades.

I consider my approach to therapy and collaboration to be prescriptive and integrative. I use a range of modalities depending on the presenting concerns, individual needs, and preferences of each person. I'm a very relationship driven human and therapist and so I lean towards approaches that to me, really honor the nervous system’s needs for safety. I'm continuously engaging in learning/and unlearning, to strengthen my understanding of providing therapeutic care that is affirming of gender, sexuality, culture, and neurodiversity. As a non-indigenous helper, I am very committed to the ongoing work of reconciliation, education, justice and healing.

I work with a range of systems, such as Child and Family Services, family’s (birth, adopted, foster, and kinship families), schools, and other Service Providers such as Occupational Therapists. I see a wide range of ages, mostly children and teens, but I also see a small number of adult clients when the fit seems right.

Services I Offer

THERAPY

I’m an integrative therapist that uses a variety of modalities to best meet the wide range of needs of each client, including Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Theraplay, The Flash Technique, and expressive therapies (i.e. art and movement).

Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

I’m happy to consult with you to determine whether SSP is appropriate for you or your child.

I like to work collaboratively with other practitioners and so if you are a practitioner and you have a client that you think would benefit from receiving SSP, but you are not an SSP Provider, reach out to me to explore opportunities for collaboration.

Consultation for Systems and Families

Parenting is full of joy, but it’s also really tough a lot of the time! The truth is not every childhood challenge requires therapy. Not sure if therapy is needed? Or are you looking for different ways to support your child with everyday challenges? Consultation services are available to caregivers around a range of topics (e.g. tips for supporting your anxious child, Circle of Security- Parenting Program to understand your child’s attachment needs, questions about child development, or you’re looking for some guidance as you navigate parenting different ages and stages).

Consultation is also available to family’s and systems regarding FASD.

Play Therapy Supervision

I’m a Certified Play Therapist Supervisor in Training with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy. I can provide in-person and virtual supervision.

Costs and Billing

As a Registered Social Worker, many of my offerings are covered by most major insurance and group benefit providers. However, I’m unable to bill insurance providers directly. Instead, you will be provided with a receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

I’m also an approved provider with First Nations Inuit Health (i.e. Jordan’s Principle, Non-Insured Health Benefits- NIHB), Victim Services, and many Child and Family Services Agencies. I can bill these providers directly.

Sliding Scale Offerings are available and will be assessed on a case-by-case base.
